Gary L. Henderson, 79 of Seymour went to meet his Savior Saturday, May 2, 2020 at Covered Bridge Health Campus. Born December 18, 1940 in Seymour he was the son of Robert R. and Lula L. (Huffman) Henderson.
Gary graduated from Shields High School in Seymour where he played football. He was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps, a lifetime member of the V.F.W. post #1925 and a member of the American Legion Post #89 both in Seymour. Gary also was an honorary Colonel of Kentucky, Tennessee and Alabama.
Gary is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Dianne R. Marcott (Tatlock) whom he married on July 29, 1979; he was the father of five children; Race L. and his wife Susie Henderson of Uniontown; Monte and his wife Anita Henderson of Little Rock, Arkansas; Tiffany J. Chrysler, Kelly E. Henderson and Alanya S. Cunningham all of Seymour; he was a step-father to David T. Tatlock of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandfather to his 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Rhonda Jill McDaniel and Leonard A. Henderson.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; his stepson, Ric Tatlock; his brothers, Robert R. Jr., Joe and John Henderson; his sisters, Maxine Shaffer, Betty Ross, Hattie B. Carmichael and Beverly S. Henderson.
Mr. Henderson was a self-employed master carpenter and owned his own construction company for a period of time. He retired from construction in 1980 after 17 years. He and his wife Dianne moved to Nashville, Tennessee to pursue their dreams in music. He as a record producer and promoter and Dianne as a country singer. After his music business interest ended and several heart attacks and other medical issues he retired the second and last time to enjoy his later years of life.
Per Gary’s wishes and instructions he chose cremation and A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date, especially during the Covid 19 Pandemic. Woodlawn Family Funeral Centre have been entrusted with arrangements. Gary requested memorials be given to the Schneck Medical Center.
