Evelyn Marie "Mama Ev" (Black) Followell

Evelyn Marie "Mama Ev" (Black) Followell, age 62, a native of Newburgh, New York and a resident of Butlerville, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at her residence. 

She was born on September 25, 1961 to the late James Alvin Smith and the late Pauline (Black) Smith. 

Known by all her friends and family as "Mama Ev", she will forever be remembered as a wise, kind, fun loving lady that loved life and lived it as if every day was her last. She never met a stranger and you never had to wonder what she was thinking. She enjoyed, gardening, flowers, fishing, playing cards, BINGO and going to the casino. She was a wonderful cook and the family will forever treasure the memories of her potato salad, steak and fried chicken.

She is survived by her soul mate, Orville E. Cyrus of Butlerville, Indiana, two sons, Matt Followell and his wife Amanda Aynes of Seymour, Indiana  and Patrick Followell and his wife Jennifer of Seymour, Indiana.

Three daughters, Amanda Tormoehlen and her husband Scott of Brownstown, Indiana, Jessica Mason of Medora, Indiana and Samantha Ison and her husband Char of Columbus, Indiana. Two brothers, Willis Black and his wife Cindy of Reddington, Indiana and David Black of Clear Water Florida. Four sisters, Alice Dooley and her husband Dale of Deputy, Indiana, Kelly Heath and her husband David of Ohio, Lisa Krahn and her husband Jerry of Paris Crossing, Indiana and Glenda Kinsloe and her husband Rodney of Bowling Green, Kentucky. Eighteen Grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Christensen Family Funeral Home - Seymour Chapel with funeral services beginning at 2:00 PM. Pastor Damon Marling will officiate. She will be laid to rest at Graham Baptist Cemetery in Butlerville, Indiana.
