Emily Yvonne Grimes

Emily “Tootsie” Yvonne Grimes, age 76 of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at the Hanover Health and Rehab. Born January 17, 1938 in Burlington, KY, she was the daughter of Hayden and Doris (Leach) Dunlap. On July 14, 1956 in Lawrenceburg, IN, she married George V. Grimes whom she was lovingly married to for 38 years, until his passing on August 24, 1994. Emily graduated from Central High School in 1956, and had many fond memories of her school days. A homemaker, Emily enjoyed gardening, spending time with her grandkids, crossword puzzles, reading, and her dog Henry. Survivors include three daughters, Cindy Grimes of Madison, Terri (Jay) Jackson of Canaan and Ginger Taylor of Madison. Also surviving are two brothers, Donald Wayne Dunlap of Madison and Billy Joe Dunlap of Marysville, TN; four grandchildren, Patric (Jessica) Morrison, Laken Taylor, Brooke Taylor and Alex Taylor; as well as several nieces and nephews, and other family members. Emily was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a sister- Evelyn Ann Dunlap O’nan. A memorial service and tree planting service will be held on June 22, 2014 at 5:00pm at 1902 Strader Street in Madison. Memorials can be made through the funeral home to the Emily Grimes Scholarship fund.
