Elvin Loyd Rose, aged 85, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home on September 13 , 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 21, 1939, in Underwood, Indiana, Loyd was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather, who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Loyd owed over 39 years of his career to Reliance Electric, where he earned a reputation for his work ethic and integrity. A member of the Scottsburg United Methodist Church for more than 20 years, he demonstrated his commitment to the church by serving as a trustee, reflecting his selfless and generous nature. Loyd's kindness left a lasting impact on those around him; he was regarded as a true gentleman who always placed the needs of others ahead of his own. Everyone who knew him loved him for his warm heart and welcoming demeanor.

His military service in the United States Army Reserves was a point of pride for Loyd, showcasing his dedication to serving his country. Outside of his professional life, he possessed a deep passion for gardening, often sharing the fruits of his labor with others. Loyd found happiness in playing horseshoes, mowing his lawn, and caring for his little farm, as well as being an avid fan of Indiana University basketball.

Loyd is lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of 61 years, Sandra Louise (Johnson) Rose, and his children, Timothy A. Rose and his fiancée Jennifer Cornett, and Cheryl Grever and her husband Jim, all of Scottsburg, Indiana. He is also survived by his brother, Donald E. Rose and his wife Jo of Underwood, Indiana, his sister Mexcia Hilty of Ohio, six grandchildren—Matthew Ryan Montgomery, Brad Grever, Natalie Wood, Emily Grever, Johnathan Cornett, and Lindsay Cornett—and one great-granddaughter, Lillianna Grace Grever.

He was preceded in death by his father, Elson Levi Rose, his mother, Agnes (Broady) Rose, and his sisters, Sue Bloom and Shirley Amick.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM at the Scottsburg United Methodist Church, located at 615 South Honeyrun Parkway, Scottsburg, Indiana, 47170. He will be laid to rest at Scottsburg Cemetery.

Those fortunate enough to have known Elvin Loyd Rose will carry his memory and love in their hearts, embracing the lessons of generosity and kindness that he embodied throughout his life.
