Elsie Lorene Garriott, age 82 of Seymour, passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Schneck Medical Center. Born June 7, 1936 in Salem, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Alberta (Rickerd) Motsinger. On April 29, 1958 in Brownstown, she married Thomas G. Garriott.
Elsie was retired and had been a cook at the hospital for over 20 years. She also did babysitting several years for many kids who she always stayed in touch with. Elsie was a member of the Olive Branch Primitive Baptist Church. She will be remembered by her family as a fantastic cook, a person that loved kids, bluegrass music and someone who always saw the good in people. Elsie also became a huge Facebook fan and spent a lot of time on it.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years Tom; children, Arnold (Peggy) Carmack, Barbara (Joe) McElfresh, Brenton Garriott and Bryan Garriott; 8 grandchildren, Jeremy (Beverly) Russell, Angel (Matt) Rigsby, Jason (Amber) Russell, Amanda (Doug) Sigman, Josh (Debra) Garriott, Nathaniel Garriott, Kirstie (Mitch) Pumphrey and Brittany (Devin) Kinworthy; siblings, Arthur (Loretta) Motsinger, Virginia (Floyd) Reed, Max (Kitty) Motsinger, Willa (Jimmy) Jones, Jean Steele, Robert (Judy) Motsinger and Betty (Larry) Campbell. Elsie also leaves behind 19 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Elsie was preceded in death by her parents and two sons, Donald Carmack and Bobby Garriott; brother, David Motsinger and great grandson Lance Anderson
Services will be at 1:00pm on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre. Visitation will be from 11:00am until service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison. Memorials can be made at the funeral home in Elsie’s memory to her memorial fund.
