Elizabeth Marie Barger

Elizabeth “Marie” (Parker) Barger, age 78 of Crothersville, passed away on October 14th, 2013 at Schneck Medical Center. Born August 17, 1935 Bedford, VA, she was the daughter of William Melvin (Cemo) Parker and Mary Alice (Farley) Parker. On February 1, 1954 in Valdosta, GA, Marie married Floyd Willard Barger. Marie enjoyed quilting, her flower gardens and spending time with her family and friends. She was the worlds greatest mother, wife and mother-in-law anyone could ask for. She enjoyed reading her bible. She took pride in all of her children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered as a very giving and faithful woman. Survivors include her husband 59 years, Floyd; four children, Floyd E. Barger of Austin, Mark W. (Donna Smallwood) Barger of Crothersville, Michael A. (Tina) Barger of Crothersville and Matthew A. Barger of Crothersville. Marie also has two sisters, Mary Jane Granger of Lutz, FL and Frances Bowling of Thaxton, VA. She was also blessed with 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren. Marie was preceded in death by her parents; two children, Rose M. Barger and Patricia L. (Barger) Helt; three siblings, Eunice Jennings, Stella Kirby and William Melvin Parker, Jr. A service will be held on Friday, October 18th at 1:00pm at the Woodlawn Funeral Chapel at 117 Holt Drive in Madison, Indiana. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at the funeral home and from 11:00am until 1:00pm on Friday. Burial will follow at the Indiana Veterans Cemetery in Madison. Memorials can be given to the Disabled Veterans Wish Foundation of Indiana care of the funeral home. Woodlawn Family Funeral Centre in Seymour has been entrusted with the arrangements.
