Doris Ruth Barnes

Doris Ruth Barnes, 95 of Columbus, passed away on June 21, 2023 at Hickory Creek at Columbus. She was born May 20, 1928 in Freetown, the daughter of the late Sherman and Hazel Brock Carmichael.
Doris graduated from Freetown High School. She was a stay-at-home mom who enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family. She had a love for all pets. As a true bargain hunter, she loved going to garage sales.
She is survived by her children, Steve (Ruth) Barnes, Gloria (Ron) Cochran, Mike (Rita) Barnes and Jackie Barnes, as well as two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George Barnes, her sister, Dorothy Stilwell and her brothers, Ralph, Ray and Carl Carmichael.
A Graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, June 26, 2023 at Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Doug Pogue officiating.
Memorials may be given in Doris’ memory to the Bartholomew County Humane Society, 4415 E. 200 S., Columbus, Indiana 47201.
