Diana Kay (Hughes) Beed, a gentle spirit who graced the world with her kindness and warmth, passed away at her residence on April 13, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on November 11, 1947, in Neligh, Nebraska, Diana embodied the very essence of love and laughter, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.
A proud graduate of Neligh High School in 1966, Diana dedicated her life not only to her family but to a profound faith that guided her through every joy and challenge. A remarkable woman, she skillfully balanced both her nurturing spirit and a mischievous sense of humor that brought smiles to everyone around her. Her family and friends knew her as funny, caring, loving, and generous—traits that made her home a refuge of comfort and acceptance.
Diana's passions flourished in her generous embrace of family, including her devoted sons David Beed and his wife Angela of Whiteland, Indiana, and Kevin Beed and his wife Robin of Seymour, Indiana, as well as her cherished daughter Leslie Skinner of Seymour. She was the proud Oma to eleven, each grandchild a spark of joy in her life. Jake, Kanisha, Kaitlyn, Brady, Alexis, Kaylee, Kayden, Bryce, Abigail, Keanna, and Shawn will forever hold sweet memories of their beloved grandmother's embrace and the lessons she taught with her heart. She was also survived by several great-grandchildren, whom she loved deeply and adored with all her heart.
Her sisterly bond with Larry Hughes and his wife Marie of California, and Connie Otto and her husband Rick of Nebraska, further enriched the fabric of her life; though there is a profound sense of loss felt within this loving family, Diana's legacy will carry them forward, inspired by her love.
Diana's creative soul thrived in her cherished pastime of crocheting, where each scarf, cardigan, and scrubbies were crafted with care, embodying her heartfelt dedication. Her passion for flowers painted the world around her with vibrant beauty, and her love for 'car adventures with Buster'—her beloved dog—captured the joys of simple moments that she treasured.
Though she is predeceased by her beloved husband of 51 years, Roger Beed, her son Steven Beed, her parents Dean and Barbara Hughes, and her sister Judy Hughes, Diana's spirit remains vibrant in every cherished memory and every life she touched.
