Denver Edwards

Denver Edwards, age 87 of Freetown, died at Schneck Medical Center Saturday, October 20th surrounded by his family. Born September 6, 1925, he was the son of Elza Newton and Hazel May (Callahan) Edwards. On September 20th, 1952 in Freetown, Denver married Myrtle Marie Charles. He served in the U.S. Army for 5 years during the Korean Conflict. Denver had retired from Arvins after 30 years of service. He loved fishing and he also enjoyed gardening, taking care of his animals and tinkering in the shed. Denver is survived by his wife, two sons Denver (Laura) Edwards Jr. of Freetown and Mark Allen (Debbie) Edwards of Clearspring; three daughters, Hazel Marie Wilson of Seymour, Donna Lynn Horn of Brownstown and Kathy Jo (Robert) Stout of Seymour. Also surviving is a sister, Inez Barrett of Bedford. Denver had 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild and 3 more expected soon. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Stanley, Perry and Dave Edwards and two sisters, Mabel Cummings and Bertha May McPherson. Denver was also preceded by a granddaughter, Angela Michelle Williams; a great grandson, Caden Cash Grove and a son-in-law James Edward Wilson. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm Friday October 26th at the Kurtz Church of the Nazarene conducted by Floyd Fisher. Family will receive friends from 1:00pm until service time at the church. A military honors service will follow the memorial service. Per Denver's wishes, cremation has taken place and burial will follow at a later date. Memorials may be sent care of the funeral home to the family to offset funeral expenses.
