David Marc Olmsted, age 69 of Columbus, passed away at his residence on Friday, October 17, 2014. Born January 13, 1945 in Columbus, he was the son of Joseph and Clarice (Brooks) Olmsted who preceded him in death. On March 21, 2004 in Columbus, he married Diana M. Critney. Graduating from Columbus North, he was on the football team and still holds the record for longest punt at 71 yards. A fullback, David was known as “The Tank”. David formerly attended the First Christian Church and was formerly a member of the Elks Club. An avid fisherman, David loved being in a boat on the lake. David was a dog lover and treasured his Labradors Duke and Rascal. David also enjoyed reading and spending time with family. Survivors include his wife Diana; children, Kimberly Diane (Ty) Chen and Kelly Kristine Olmsted both of Gilroy, CA, Kenneth Wayne (Rachel) Hadley, Jr. of Fairview, TN, and Kristina Lynn (Christopher) Hill of Columbus. Grandchildren include Macy Taylor Marquez, Shelby & Sierra Hadley, Tori Drake, Geni Eggers, Zach Eggers, and Kellan Hill. David is also survived by a sister, Rebecca Ann (Albert) Ellerbrook of Columbus as well as two nieces and one nephew. A funeral service will be conducted at 7:00pm Monday evening, October 20th at the Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre at 311 Holiday Sq. Rd. in Seymour. Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00pm at the funeral home. Private burial will occur at a future date.
