David L. Burgan

David L. Burgan, age 76 of Seymour, formerly of Medora, passed away on Saturday, August 23rd at Schneck Medical Center. Born April 27, 1938 in Indianapolis, he was the son of Lyman Carl and Bertha Ellen (Lutes) Burgan. On May 16th, 1959 in Medora, he married Joan Phillips, who survives. A carpenter by trade, David was a member of the Carpenters & Millwrights of Indiana as well as Indiana/Kentucky Carpenters Union. He had worked at Bateman Builders, Dunlap and Force Construction. He had also worked in his early years at Arvin Industries. David was also a member of the Medora Lodge #328 of Free and Accepted Masons. Together with his wife, David remodeled several houses. He also like to be outdoors mowing, working on small engines and especially loved working in his garden. David also loved spending time with his two granddaughters and two great-grandsons. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Joan Burgan; son David and his wife Brenda of Seymour; granddaughters, Ashley Murphy and her husband Joey and Jennifer Burgan all of Seymour. David also had two great grandsons, Gavin and Ian Murphy and a sister, Barbara Ellen Burgan of Seymour. David was preceded in death by his parents and two daughters, Holly Renae and Sherry Lynn. Private family services will be held with burial at White River Valley Cemetery. Memorials can be donated to the Gideons care of the funeral home.
