Chester Tracy

Chester Allen Tracy, age 90, a native of Hayden, Indiana and a resident of Seymour, Indiana, passed from this life into Glory on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at Hoosier Christian Village. He was born on September 1, 1933 to the late Kenneth Tracy and the late Dorothy (Kelley) Tracy. He served his Country proudly in the United States Army and was a 1951 graduate of Hayden High School. On October 11, 1959, he married the love of his life soulmate of over 64 years, Ruth (Ewing) Tracy. Chester was a member of The Point church for over 63 years. He served faithfully on the church board, church secretary, Sunday school teacher, choir member and served as supervisor of the new church building project. He was honored by the Church of The Nazarene with a distinguished award for serving for 25 years on the church board. Chester as a very hard working man with a high standard of work ethic. He was patient, kind, consistent and a Godly man, dedicated to his faith and his Lord and loved Southern Gospel music. He enjoyed gardening and canning with his beloved Ruth. He enjoyed tinkering with cars and engines, and could fix anything that needed his special touch or attention. Chester will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him and each life that he touched in his own special way.

He is survived by his wife Ruth (Ewing) Tracy of Seymour, Indiana, one son, Kevin W. Tracy of Seymour, Indiana and one daughter, Kimberly J. Jewell and her husband Philip of Columbus, Indiana. One brother, Dale Tracy and his wife Adria of Elizabethtown, Indiana. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, a host of friends and his beloved dog Lizzie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Alvin Tracy and one sister, Kathleen Tracy.

The family will receive friends on Monday, November 13, 2023 from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Christensen Family Funeral Home - Seymour Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM with his lifelong friend, Pastor Jim Hudson officiating. He will be laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery. The family requests that memorial donations be directed to Hayden Historical Society or Hoosier Christian Village.

Chester would want the world to know who Jesus is. and to know the words of Isaiah in Chapter 41 verse 10, "Fear thou not for I am with thee, be not dismayed for I am thy God, I will strengthen thee, yea, I will help thee, yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness".
