Cheri Lea (Miskell) Scott, age 60, a native of Seymour, Indiana, and resident of Brownstown, Indiana, passed from this life on Sunday, April 4, 2021. She was born Dec. 3, 1960, to Gerald "Gene" Miskell and Carol (Myers) Miskell.
Outgoing and boisterous, Cheri made friends everywhere she went. Her laugh was infectious, and she would go out of her way to help someone in need, even if it meant that she went without. She was fiercely protective of those she loved, but she also wasn’t afraid to speak her mind. Those who fell short of her standards might find themselves cut by her sharp wit and sharper tongue.
Spending her early years on the family’s farm led to a lifelong love of animals. From cats to dogs to a baby raccoon she once rescued from the road, her home always featured a furry friend. When not at home, she was often drawn to the peacefulness of the country or a sun-drenched beach. For other escapes, Cheri loved movies. She could tell you those weren’t the droids you were looking for, how to correctly pronounce “Wingardium leviosa” and what you’ll find in Davy Jones’ locker, all while making the most obscure references to each film or telling you about the movie stars she’d met.
She is survived by a daughter, Jodi Miskell of Phoenix, Arizona, and a sister, Joy (Miskell) Ray and her husband Tony of Seymour, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Mike Miskell and Rick Miskell.
Private family services will be held at Riverview Cemetery in Seymour, Indiana. A larger celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Jackson County United Way. Friends are invited to leave condolence messages for the family at www.woodlawnfamilyfuneral.com.
