Shane Whitlock

October 25, 1985 — July 11, 2024

Scottsburg

Charles Michael "Shane" Whitlock, age 38, a resident of Seymour, Indiana and a native of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at Schneck Medical Center. He was born on October 25, 1985 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Michael and Debra (Zollman) Whitlock. He grew up in Lexington, Indiana and went to Scottsburg High School. In his younger years, he was in a car club with his best friends and enjoyed going to car shows with his best friend, Eddie. Throughout most of his life, he was a well-respected car mechanic in the community. He enjoyed coaching little league sports and being a father figure. When he was not under the hood of a car, you would often find him enjoying the outdoors, camping, and boating. He was a very good friend and more than anything, enjoyed spending time with his children. Without a doubt, he was a legend in his own right.

His life will be cherished by his sons: Bailey Hurtt of Austin, Indiana, Wyatt Taylor of Columbus, Indiana, and Bryson Whitlock of Austin, Indiana; his sisters: Susan Jones of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Laura Schmidt of Louisville, Kentucky, and Ashley E. Whitlock of Seymour, Indiana; his nieces and nephews: Nicholas, David, Kaalob, Michael, Noah, Bryson Shane, Lauren, and Hunter; and his many bonus kids.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Debra (Zollman) Whitlock; his grandparents: Charles and Donna Zollman and J.C. and Noreen Whitlock; his sister: Sarah Jane Amos; his brother-in-law: Joseph Schmidt and his uncle Eston "Geater" Boley.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 14, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Monday, July 15, 2024 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Christensen-Hoagland Family Funeral Home in Scottsburg. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM with Pastor Jim Hudson officiating.
