Charles Allen “Charlie” Copeland Jr., age 77 of Chelsea, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at his residence. Born July 19, 1937 in Madison, he was the son of Charles Allen Sr. “Shorty” and Opal (Reed) Copeland who preceded him in death he was also preceded in death by three brothers, Cecil Copeland on July 27, 2013, Chris Copeland John R. Regenald; two sons Timothy Allen Copeland on October 4, 2010 and Barry Laine Copeland on July 28, 2012; and one nephew Derrick Lee Yocum on April 15, 2013. Charlie was joined in marriage to Mary Jo Yocum on June 22, 1956. This union of 58 years was blessed with four children. Charlie and Mary Jo moved from Hanover to their home in Chelsea in 1977 where Charlie worked as a Truck Driver for CW Transport. He did daily runs to and from Louisville and for the surrounding area which covered about a 50 mile radius he later retired in 1987.He was member of the International Brotherhood Teamsters – Local 89 for over 30 years. Mr. Copeland was a mason and a member of the English Shrine Club where he served as president in 1994formerly in Chelsea, Indiana. He enjoyed working on cars, on his farm and spending time in the Woods. Charlie enjoyed taking Mary Jo on motorcycle rides all different places. He loved animals and always protected the ones on his land; Charlie spent a lot of time sitting at his pond feeding the fish. Survivors include his wife Mary Jo (Yocum) Copeland of Chelsea; his daughter Terry Lynn Copeland and husband Chopper of Madison; his son Brian Copeland and his wife Wendy Abbott of Chelsea; his sister Dixie Riley of Saluda; his half sister Virginia Howard of California; three brothers George Copeland of Madison, Jim Copeland of Louisville and Gary Copeland of California; two sister in laws, Pearl Konkle of Columbus, OH and Wanda Burress of Hanover; three brother in laws, Duke Yocum of Hanover, Denny Yocum of Lexington, Norman Yocum of Vevay, Paul and Billy Yocum both of Madison; Ten grandchildren, Karen Jenkins and her husband Donnie of Chelsea, Rebecca “Becky” Sells and her husband Joseph of Madison, Timothy Adam Copeland of Chelsea, Jeremy Copeland and his wife Kendra of Madison, Corey Copeland of Chelsea, Chelsea Copeland, Elizabeth Copeland and Clinton Copeland all of Hanover, Aaron Copeland of Chelsea and Devin Thornton of Madison; his ten great grandchildren, Kayla, Hayley, Ciarra, Rhiannon, Landon, Emma, Joslyn, Molly, Caiden, Malachi, and Ryan. Charlie was waiting on the arrival of their great granddaughter Harley. Several nieces, nephews as well as several cousins and many friends. Funeral Services will be conducted by Pastor Mike Straub at 7:00pm Sunday October 19, 2014 at the Woodlawn Family Funeral Centre, 117 Holt Drive, Madison.
