Carl T. Van Antwerp

Carl Thomas Van Antwerp, age 74 of Seymour, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2016 at Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers, Florida with his family at his side. Born March 6, 1942 in New Castle, he was the son of Clyde and Thelma (Thomas) Van Antwerp. On July 23, 1977 in Seymour, Carl married Donna Wayman.

Carl served in the U.S. Army. He retired from Cummins Engine Company in 1993 after 30 years of service. In 1982, Carl and Donna founded the Van Antwerp Farm Market. He loved working on the farm and growing produce. He was a faithful active member of the Cornerstone Community Church where he had served as a deacon.

Other pasttimes were fishing, traveling, riding his bike at the park around their home in Fort Myers and had just finished a remodeling project at their home in Florida. Carl loved to be with his family and friends and will be remembered as a faithful, loving and sweet man who liked to help people.

Survivors include his wife of almost 39 years, Donna; children, Glenn (Sharon) Sturgill of Orlando, FL, Mike (Becky) Van Antwerp, David (Kim) Sturgill, Karen (Jeff) Sutton, Brian (Nicole) Sturgill all of Seymour; brothers, Dave (Barb) Van Antwerp of Vallonia and Joe (Linda) Van Antwerp of Lawton, OK; grandchildren, Shawn Van Antwerp, Jessica Sturgill, Andrea (Bart) Yoder, Kevin Van Antwerp, Hope Sutton, Bryan Sturgill, Grant Sutton, Alex Sturgill, and Zach Sturgill.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be at 11:00am on Friday, May 27th at Cornerstone Community Church with Pastors Johnnie Spivey, Larry Robbins and Gary Dyer officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00pm until 8:00pm and then from 10:00am until service time on Friday all at the church. Burial will follow services at Reddington Cemetery where there will be military honors. Memorials can be made to Cornerstone Community Church or to Community Provisions.
