Bobby Scott, age 87, departed from this world on December 12, 2024, at his residence, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on June 14, 1937, in the quaint town of Freetown, Indiana, Bobby was a proud 1955 graduate of Freetown High School. His life was a testament to steadfast love, unwavering faith, and community service.
As a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church for over five decades, Bobby devoted himself to serving others. His roles as deacon, usher, and former Sunday School Superintendent showcased his deep commitment to faith and fellowship. For Bobby, church was not merely a building; it was the cornerstone of his existence, a place where he cultivated lifelong friendships and nurtured his spiritual growth.
Known for his quiet demeanor and laid-back personality, Bobby was a man of few words, yet his steadfast presence spoke volumes. He possessed a no-nonsense approach to life, embodying a stern yet kind-hearted spirit that endeared him to many. To those who knew him well, he was a pillar of strength and reliability—a guiding light in times of uncertainty.
In the warmth of his home, Bobby found joy in the simplicity of life’s pleasures. He loved immersing himself in the thrill of sports, particularly the exhilarating moments of watching IU men's basketball, the Indiana Pacers, and the Indianapolis Colts. These interests were more than just hobbies for him; they were gateways to cherished moments spent with family, building memories that would last a lifetime.
Bobby's legacy lives on through his beloved wife, Carol Arthur Scott, who stood by his side for an enduring 67 years, and their devoted daughter, Diana Scott. He is also survived by his cherished siblings: Jerry Scott and Larry Scott, along with Larry's wife Jeanette, and sister Janet Scott Jewell, all of Seymour, Indiana. Bobby is remembered with love by his two grandchildren, Shane Scott and Nicholas Scott, and celebrated by his three great-grandchildren, Ian Scott, Kiara Scott, and Piper Scott.
He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, including those who gathered around him in his final moments. Bobby was preceded in death by his father, Roland Scott, his mother, Virginia Cole Scott-Trotter, his son, Jeffrey Scott, and his brother, Gerald Scott—each leaving a void filled only with memories.
