Bobby Lee Hanner

November 10, 1946 — March 14, 2025

Brownstown

Bobby Lee Hanner Sr., a gentle soul and longtime figure of Brownstown, Indiana, peacefully departed this life on March 14, 2025, at Schneck Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 10, 1946, in the quaint township of Freetown, Indiana, Bobby touched the lives of many through his kindness and warm demeanor.

A lifelong member of the Brownstown Church of The Nazarene, Bobby devoted over 50 years to his faith, showcasing a steadfast commitment not just to his church but also to the community he cherished deeply. His kind-hearted nature made him a beloved fixture, as he embraced life with an open heart and a penchant for connection.

Bobby's passion for adventure shone bright in his love for fishing, where he found solace amid nature's tranquility. He relished evenings spent watching John Wayne movies, often retreating into the classic tales of heroism and rugged independence that resonated with his own spirit. Each memory shared over a fishing line or the flicker of a film reel reveals a life rich with laughter, camaraderie, and the simple joys that matter most.

He leaves behind a loving family who will continue to carry forward his legacy of warmth. His beloved wife of 55 years, Robin (Russell) Hanner, remains a steadfast partner whose strength and devotion enriched their shared journey. Their bond encapsulates decades of love, laughter, and unwavering support—a testament to a partnership enviable and rare.

His nurturing spirit is evident in his children: Bobby L. Hanner Jr. of Seymour, Indiana, and Steven E. Hanner and Justin Hanner and his wife, Shauna, all from Brownstown, Indiana. Each of them carries a piece of their father’s generous heart and legacy into the world, shaping countless lives with the lessons he imparted.

Siblings also hold cherished memories of Bobby. He is survived by his brother, Jerry Hanner of Freetown, Indiana, and his sisters: Betty Lee of Brownstown, Indiana, and Wanda Root and her husband Eddie from Vallonia, Indiana.

Bobby was predeceased by his father, Frank Hanner, and his mother, Mary Ferguson Hanner, whose values and virtues he upheld throughout his life. The loss of his brother, Rick Hanner, and his sister, Donna Sue Hanner adds a poignant layer to the legacy he leaves—a reminder of life's cherished but fleeting nature.

Visitation services will be held at Brownstown Church of The Nazarene, first on March 20, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and continuing on March 21, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with funeral services beginning at 11:00 am. He will be laid to rest following funeral services at Kurtz Cemetery. His family invites all who loved him to gather, to celebrate his life, and to share in the stories that will forever echo his kindness, friendliness, and unmatched generosity.
