Betty Sue (Miner) Dart

November 16, 1935 — October 14, 2024

Betty Sue (Miner) Dart, born on November 16, 1935, in the quaint town of Scottsburg, Indiana, peacefully departed this world on October 14, 2024, at Springhurst Healthcare in Greenfield, Indiana. Her heart, so richly woven into the fabric of her family and community, leaves behind a legacy that will echo through the lives she touched.

Betty's life was a journey not just marked by time, but filled with adventure. A cherished companion, she loved to travel and take road trips with her beloved husband, Leon, and their friends. Together, they explored the winding roads and breathtaking landscapes, creating memories that would fill countless conversations and bring laughter to gatherings for years to come.

Her education began humbly, culminating in her graduation from Scottsburg High School in 1953. Yet, it was her spiritual education and commitment that truly defined her. A lifelong member of Zion United Methodist Church, she exemplified the virtues of compassion and service. With remarkable dedication, she was a past member of the Willing Workers Home Extension and a guiding light as a leader in her sons' 4H club. In all ways, her spirit endeavored to uplift those around her.

Betty possessed an unforgettable sense of humor, a quality that brightened every room she entered. She was a true nurturer, often putting others’ needs before her own. Her heart was an oasis of kindness, where no good deed went unnoticed. Family stood as her unwavering pillar; they were always her number one priority, inspiring her selfless nature.

Her love for her grandchildren was boundless, often manifesting in heartwarming afternoons spent fishing, wading in creeks, and riding golf carts. Those enchanting evenings catching lightning bugs transformed into cherished stories of "Grandma Dart," recounting their adventures with twinkling eyes and joyful laughter.

Betty's family includes her devoted son, Rick Dart of Clarksville, Indiana, and her loving daughter, Pamela Sue Cooley, and her husband Randy of New Palestine, Indiana. She was blessed with ten grandchildren, each a reflection of her nurturing spirit: Gregory Leon Dart, Geoffry Leon Dart, Garrick Leon Dart, Geremie Leon Dart, Brian David Zych, Aaron Joseph Zych, Lauren Alyss Dodd, Kyle Cooley, Jeremy Cooley, and Craig Cooley. Furthermore, the joy of four great-grandchildren—Noah, Cohen, Rosie, and Julian—further enriched her family tapestry.

Betty joins those who have preceded her: her beloved husband of 63 years, Leon; her parents, Merville Miner and Alice (Arbuckle) Miner; her sister, Phyllis Bridgewater; and brother-in-law, Jack Bridgewater. They welcome her into their arms, where laughter and love rekindle the bonds that only family can share.

As we reflect upon Betty Sue (Miner) Dart's life, let us remember a woman who traveled with purpose, loved fiercely, and cared deeply. May her legacy inspire us to cherish our family ties, lend a helping hand, and find joy in the simple pleasures of life. She will be forever missed, yet eternally celebrated in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

In keeping with her wishes, all services will be private and the family appreciates your thoughts and prayers during this time.
