Beryl R. Horrall, 67, of Bedford, Indiana (formerly of Princeton, Indiana) passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, May 03, 2016 after having survived an eight year battle with cancer.
Beryl was born March 11, 1949 and was a 1967 graduate of Princeton High School. He attended Indiana University and was an avid IU sports fan. Beryl was a past president of the Bedford Rotary Club and lived the Rotary moto “Service Above Self”. He was an active member of the Lawrence County Homebuilders Association where he served as president and also on many boards in the state and national Homebuilders Association. Beryl was a 48 year member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his parents Roland (Rock) and Helen Horrall, an infant sister Elizabeth Jean and his partner of 20 years, Lisa Pugh.
Beryl is survived by his loving partner and caregiver, Amy Ireland of Mt. Carmel. Children Christopher P. Hill of Bloomington, Blane E. Horrall of Bedford and Heather Lowry of Lafayette. One granddaughter Madison Harding. Surviving siblings Roxanne (Bob) Swan of Prospect, KY, Rosiene Weaver (Don Kohls) of Cincinnati, OH and Ed (Ellyn) Horrall of Patoka, IN. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews who all looked up to their Uncle Beryl and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Beryl was blessed to have a friendship stretching over 55 years with Pat McConnell, Joe Schmitts and George Wright. This group was often referred to as “The Fab Four”.
At Beryl’s request there will be no funeral service, rather his wishes were to gather together for Celebrations of Life. One celebration will be held in Bedford, Indiana, where he lived most of his adult life, at The First Baptist Church, 1515 20th Street on Friday, May 6, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. EST. There will also be a celebration on Saturday, May 7, 2016 in his hometown of Princeton at the Knights of Columbus, 313 West Broadway from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. CST. Everyone is encouraged to bring pictures, stories and memories of Beryl to share with family and friends.
In lieu of flowers Beryl has requested donations be made to the Lawrence County Cancer Patient Service, 219 Sycamore Drive, Bedford, IN 47421. Envelopes will be available at each celebration.
