IN MEMORY OF Avery N. Clashman Avery N. Clashman, age 94 of Madison, Indiana, entered this life on January 24, 1921 in Jefferson County, Indiana. Avery was the loving son of the late Harley E. and Evelyn Marshall Clashman. He was raised in Jefferson County and was a 1939 graduate of North Madison High School. Avery worked at International Harvester in Indianapolis, Indiana before being inducted into the United States Army on July 13, 1942 at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana. Avery severed during World War II and was honorably discharged on February 2, 1946. He was united in marriage on March 28, 1947 to Edna Marie Phillips Clashman. This happy union of 53 years was blessed with two sons, Richard and Everett and one daughter, Teresa. Avery enjoyed working on his farm in Kent, Indiana and was a member of the Smyrna-Monroe Presbyterian Church and the Jefferson County Farm Bureau. Survivors include his sons, Richard M. Clashman of Kent, Indiana and Everett J. Clashman of Kent, Indiana; his daughter Teresa Marie Lichlyter and her husband Tony of Madison, Indiana; his grandsons Travis Ray Lichlyter and Jeremy N. Lichlyter; his cousins Mary G. Clashman of Madison, Indiana, David W. Clashman of Madison, Indiana, and Aileen Meier of Colombia City, Indiana; several nieces and nephews. Avery was preceded in death by his parents Harley E. and Evelyn Marshall Clashman; his stepmother Hazel Deputy Clashman; his wife of 53 years Edna Marie Phillips Clashman; brother-in-laws Robert W. Phillips, Omer J. Phillips, Morris L. Phillips, Ralph Phillips; sister-in-law Mary Lucille Bentz; cousins William “Nick” Clashman and Ernest Edmond Clashman. Funeral services will be held for Avery at 1:30pm Sunday September 27, 2015 at the Woodlawn Family Funeral Centre, 117 Holt Drive Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Dupont Cemetery, State Road 7 near Madison, Indiana Visitation will be held Saturday September 26, 2015 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm and Sunday from 12:30pm until time of service at the Woodlawn Family Funeral Centre, 117 Holt Drive Madison, Indiana. EXPRESSIONS OF SYMPATHY Memorials can be made to the Dupont Cemetery Association or Smyrna-Monroe Presbyterian Cemetery. Contribution cards will be available at the funeral home.
