Ann (Rice) Hodson, age 69, passed away unexpectedly on January 26, 2025, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour, Indiana, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and warmth that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her.
Born on April 28, 1955, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Ann’s journey began in a place of natural beauty and vast skies. She grew up in Brazil, IN where she made life long friends. She graduated from Brazil High School in 1973, before pursuing higher education at Indiana State University, earning a degree in Criminology in 1977. Ann found her true vocation as a devoted mother, dedicating herself wholeheartedly to her family.
Ann’s presence was one of compassionate energy, as she always placed the needs of others above her own. Her natural inclination towards selflessness and generosity was felt by all who had the pleasure of calling her a friend. She forged lifelong friendships, motivated by an earnest investment in the lives of those around her. Ann's thoughtful nature made her a cherished confidante, always there with an open heart and listening ear.
Family was the cornerstone of Ann's existence, a source of pure joy that illuminated her life. She loved her children, Sarah Scobell and her husband Matthew, Jenny Little and her husband Craig, and David Hodson and his wife Kyleigh, with a depth that transcends words. The profound pride she felt for her seven grandchildren—Alivia, Abram, Ally, Owen, Rose, Ethan, and Oliver—was evident in every shared moment, from the laughter ringing through family gatherings to the cherished time spent playing board games like Monopoly and Euchre. Ann cherished each game as an opportunity to create lasting memories filled with laughter and love.
Amongst her siblings, Nancy Teall and her husband Tom, and Betsy Montalone and her husband Joe, Ann fostered bonds that flourished even in the simplest of moments. The camaraderie between them highlighted Ann's ability to bring people together.
As we remember Ann, we hold close the memories of her radiant spirit, one that thrived in warmth and embrace. Ann is preceded in death by her parents, Carl Rice and Mary Jane Todd Rice.
