Patricia Ann Umphress, age 80, a native of Greensburg, Indiana and a resident of Vallonia, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at St. Vincent Hospital. She was born on April 24, 1943 to the late Russell Umphress and the late Allie "Betty" (Martin) Umphress. Patricia was a member of First Marion Baptist Church, Eastern Star for over 50 years, and the American Legion. She enjoyed flowers and collecting American Indian Memorabilia. Patricia enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved get togethers, family breakfast and especially Jeep rides with her kids. She loved and supported her grandkids in all their adventures including football, Special Olympics, and baseball. She loved traveling to Tennessee to visit her great grandson Dean and going to go kart races to watch her great grandson Maverick. She also enjoyed the outdoors, including fishing, hunting, camping and loving life and living it to the fullest.
She is survived by her son, Russell Dean and his wife Diana of Westport, Indiana, two daughters, Terry Brison and her husband Clarence of Butlerville, Indiana and Jamie Rittman and her husband Nathan of Freetown, Indiana. Three sisters, Kay Scifres and her husband Marvin "Dink" of Crothersville, Indiana, Fay Gardner of Seymour, Indiana and Mary Alice Craft of Austin, Indiana.
Six grandchildren, Cora Brison, Cameron Brison (Whitney), Samantha Peterson (Shane), Jessy Chaney, Leelynn Dean and Jake Cope. Two great grandchildren, Maverick Brison and Dean Peterson and her companion, Ken Rodenberger.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Larry Umphress and two sisters, Betty Monroe and Oweeta Engelking. Three brother in laws, Richard Gardner, Dean Craft and Bob Engleking.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at First Marion Baptist Church in Commiskey, Indiana from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM with funeral services beginning at 2:00 PM.
