Mitchell Sizemore

Mitchell Sizemore, 78, of Austin IN, passed away June 9, 2023 at his residence in Austin. He was born May 7, 1945 in Perry County, KY to the late Elijah Sizemore and the late Millie (Neese) Sizemore. Mitchell was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Ella (Melton) Sizemore. Mitchell was retired from construction and a Christian by faith. He played the guitar and loved to sing. He also loved to cook, especially biscuits and gravy, cornbread, meatloaf, and stuffed bell peppers. He was a collector of guns and knives. Mitchell was a sweet, honest, gentle soul that loved his family and was all about being with family. He is Survived by his children; Harrison Sizemore & Tina of McKee KY, Will Sizemore of Austin, Gilbert Sizemore & Gladys of Austin, McKenzie Sizemore & Melanie of Versailles KY, Eric Sizemore & Mandy of Austin, Polly Parks & Larry of Austin, Debi Baker of Hazard KY, Jettie Colwell & Harold of Austin, Jennifer Dixon of Hazard KY, Dulcena Bowling & Charles of Austin, Virginia Sizemore of Austin, Sayworth Lawless & Lee of Austin, Carol Mullins of Austin, Elizabeth Hardcastle of Austin, Kathy Montgomery & Lee of Austin; one brother Jesse Sizemore of Hazard KY; two sisters Dora Baker of Hyden KY and Chlory Gibson of Hazzard KY; and a special nephew Bob West & Charlotte of Austin; 33 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by brothers Thomas Sizemore, Elijah Sizemore, Henry Sizemore, Harrison Sizemore, Charlie Sizemore; sisters Bessie White, Lora Campbell, Nora Fields, Alice Spencer, Della Mae Baker.

Pastor Jacob Howell will conduct  Funeral Services, 1pm, Thursday, June 15, 2023 at Christensen-Hoagland Family Funeral Home, 80 N 1st St., Scottsburg IN 47170. Visitation will be held 5pm – 8pm, Wednesday, June 14, 2023 and 10am – 1pm Thursday June 15, 2023 at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at New Providence Cemetery, near Austin IN. Memorial Donations: St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
