Johnnie Noel Chapman, 82 of Brownstown, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2019, at St. Vincent Heart Center. He was born May 29, 1936, in Jamestown, Kentucky, where he was raised by his grandparents, James and Emma Chapman.
Johnnie married Ruth Russell on June 10, 1956, and she survives.
Johnnie was a member of Brownstown Baptist Church and worked many years as a timber buyer. He was an avid rose gardener and enjoyed making bird houses.
He is survived by his wife, children, Pam Toppe, Bev (Fred) Underwood, Rhonda Chapman and Mendy (John) Ferguson; grandchildren, Chadd Bryant, Chris Bryant, Kim (Nathan) Michaels, Kasey (Daron) Prewitt, Clayton Ferguson, Kyle Ferguson and Carson Ferguson; and four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Michael (Kathy) Grider, Ralph (Sherry) Grider and Richard Grider; four sisters, Linda (Donnie) Gaines, Brenda (Chuck) Ballard, Barbara (Charles) Durbin, and Vera (Bobbi) Ruwe; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, four brothers, Louie Grider, Claude Grider, Jr., Glenn Grider and Randall Grider; and two sisters, Judy Lyons and Earlene (Roy) Hensley.
Services will be conducted Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at 1:00 PM at Winklepleck & Brock Funeral Home in Brownstown with Rev. Floyd Fisher officiating. Friends and family may call at the funeral home after 11:00 AM until time of service. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association through Winklepleck & Brock Funeral Home.
