David L. Fisher

April 28, 1941 — October 25, 2019

David L. Fisher, age 78 of Norman passed away on Friday, October 25, 2019 at the Hoosier Christian Village. Born April 28, 1941 at home in Norman, Indiana he was the son of Luke L. and Ruby N. (Cummings) Fisher.

David had retired from Cummins Engine having worked there for 37 years. After retirement he drove a school bus and raised cattle. David was a member of Houston Christian Church, where he preached for 16 years. He also attended Liberty Christian Church where he preached for 12years.
David enjoyed coon hunting, bluegrass music, playing guitar and singing at church. He especially enjoyed spending his winters in Florida at Little Willies RV Resort with his wife Janet whom he married on October 22, 2005 in Orange County.

Survivors include his wife Janet of Norman; his children David D. Fisher (Misty) of Vincennes, Doug Fisher (Lori) of Brownstown and Danette Mensendiek (Max) of Columbus; his step children, Patricia Hilyard (Jack), Christine Craig of Solsbery and Mike Stillions (Candie) of Paoli; his sisters, Sue Callahan (Russel) and Joy Fish; his brothers, Dwight Fisher and Danny Fisher (Karen); his grandchildren, David M. Fisher, Meagan Fisher, Zachary Fisher, Nathan Reeves, Dustin Fisher, Dolan Fisher, Nicholas Mensendiek and Noah Mensendiek; 8 step grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 11 step grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Carolyn Followell whom he married June 17, 1961; his sisters, June Hoaks, Faye Brittan and Norma Lou miller; his brothers Donnie and Dean Fisher; his stepdaughter Debra Stillions and his granddaughter Hailey Reeves.

Funeral services will be held at 11am Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at Houston Christian Church. Visitation will be on Tuesday October 29, 2019 from 3pm-7pm at Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre and at the church on Wednesday from 10am until the time of service. Burial will follow at the Houston Cemetery. Memorial contribution can be given in memory of David to the Houston Christian Church or the Liberty Christian Church.
